In 2015, I was requested to support the investigation of cases related to physical abuse, abductions, killings and exhumation of the remains of children and adults with Albinism.

The stories of abuse and killings of this population emerged sometime in 2009 when there was a rising number of targeted attacks including mutilation and murder of Persons with Albinism. Attackers believe that body parts belonging to adults and children with Albinism bring good luck, wealth and healing to the sick when used in witchcraft rituals and potions.

In our June 2026 Podcast, Hazel Chitulu, the Host and Producer, will speak with Honourable Overstone Kondowe, the Chairperson of the African Union for Persons with Albinism, about Chapter 8 in Human Trafficking Exposed.

Chapter 8 covers some stories where I was involved as an undercover friend to a parent of a child who was recruited and harmed for the purpose of harvesting body parts.

This book and podcast highlight how greed and superstition lead to widespread violence against people with Albinism as the African Union for Persons with Albinism Chairperson responds to the following questions:

Questions

    2. Recently, civil society organisations and associations fighting for the rights of Persons with Albinism expressed deep concern over disturbing cases that signal renewed threats to the safety, dignity, and lives of Persons with Albinism in Malawi and other countries. What happened?
    3. Is there any scientific or medical basis for the belief that organs, skin, or bones from a Person with Albinism can cure diseases or create wealth?

Human Trafficking Exposed

They trusted a promise. They followed a dream. And their lives were never the same.

In Human Trafficking Exposed, Maxwell Matewere pulls readers inside the brutal, hidden world of modern slavery—where children are trafficked under the guise of education, women are trapped in violent sexual exploitation, and men are stripped of dignity through forced labor.

This is not second-hand reporting. Drawn from more than 25 years on the frontlines, the book exposes real cases, survivor testimonies, criminal networks, and the global machinery that turns human suffering into profit.

Unfiltered. Uncomfortable. Unavoidable.
This book doesn’t ask you to look—it forces you to see.
